The Grand’s Weekly CineGrand series– a series of the best of the recent films, from both the Hollywood studios and independents, all playing Tuesday evenings at 7:30 pm as well as a closed-captioned screening on Wednesday afternoons on the Coastal Eye Care Screen at The Grand in Ellsworth- continues its new Spring season on Tuesday, April 3rd and Wednesday April 4th with a film nominated for multiple Oscars- “The Post.” Steven Spielberg directs Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks in a thrilling drama about the unlikely partnership between The Washington Post’s Katharine Graham (Streep), the first female publisher of a major American newspaper, and editor Ben Bradlee (Hanks), as they race to catch up with The New York Times to expose a massive cover-up of government secrets that spanned three decades and four U.S. Presidents. The two must overcome their differences as they risk their careers- and their very freedom- to help bring long-buried truths to light. With Alison Brie, David Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Tracy Letts, Bob Odenkirk, Sarah Paulson, Matthew Rhys, Michael Stuhlbarg and Bradley Whitford. (2017. USA 1 hr, 55 min. Directed by Steven Spielberg. PG-13.) Tickets for this General Admission presentation are $8 for Adults, $7 for Seniors/Students (15 and under) and $6 Grand Members (as well as Matinee screenings).
