The Grand’s Weekly CineGrand series– a series of the best of the recent films, from both the Hollywood studios and independents, all playing Tuesday evenings at 7:30 pm as well as a closed-captioned screening on Wednesday afternoons on the Coastal Eye Care Screen at The Grand in Ellsworth- continues its new Spring season on Tuesday, April 10th and Wednesday April 11th with a film featuring a revelatory performance from Annette Benning- “Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool.” Based on Peter Turner’s memoir, the film follows the playful but passionate relationship between Turner (Jamie Bell) and the eccentric Academy Award (R)-winning actress Gloria Grahame (Benning) in 1978 Liverpool. What starts as a vibrant affair between a legendary femme fatale and her young lover quickly grows into a deeper relationship, with Turner being the person Gloria turns to for comfort.
