DESCRIPTION:This is a new series for Surry Arts at the Barn.  It will feat
 ure two local veteran blues singer / instrumentalists and their friends :\
 n\nDerrick Semler and Mark “Bluesboy” Kanter.\n\nDerrick Semler is per
 haps best known as the original front man of locally legendary blues-rock 
 band the N-Zones\, a Burlington bar band whose heyday was in the late 1970
 s and early ’80s. These days\, Semler is a grandfather who splits his ti
 me between Rochester\, Vt.\, and Brooksville.\n\nMark Kanter started playi
 ng the blues shortly after hearing The Paul Butterfield Blues Band perform
  in the 1960s. Mark has been performing the blues since both as a solo art
 ist and band leader as well as a sideman (harmonica) on other projects. He
  has opened for acts including Coco Montoya\, E.C. Scott\, John Mayall and
  Eddie Kirkland. He resides in Bar Harbor\, Maine (having moved there from
  New York City in 1973.)
