Kids are invited to build birdhouses for chickadees at the Blue Hill Public Library on Wednesday, August 8th from 10:00 AM to noon. Interns from Holbrook Island Sanctuary will be on hand to help kids assemble birdhouse kits designed for black-capped chickadees. The workshop is free and each child can take a finished birdhouse home, but space and materials are limited so registration is required. Participants should register via the library’s interactive calendar at www.bhpl.net. The birdhouse kits were made by the interns at Holbrook Island Sanctuary.
This project is fourth in a series of five “Conservation Kids” projects by the library that are intended to engage youth volunteers to positively impact the environment and community on the Blue Hill Peninsula. The projects are designed to teach kids proactive steps they can take to make a difference in helping to preserve the natural world around them. These programs are made possible by a grant from the Davis Conservation Foundation. For more information call the library at 374-5515.
