DESCRIPTION:The Blue Hill Concert Association is proud to announce the exci
 ting lineup for its annual winter season.\nThe 2024 Season will begin on J
 anuary 14\, with the Parker Quartet returning to the Peninsula for the fir
 st time since 2018. Making up the Parker Quartet are artists Daniel Chong 
 and Ken Hamao\, violins\, Jessica Bodner\, viola\, and Kee-Hyun Kim\, cell
 o.  These exceptional musicians are professors and Artists in Residence at
  the Harvard School of Music. In 2020\, the Parker Quartet celebrated its 
 20th anniversary with a special Beethoven Project\, “which include[d] pe
 rformances of the complete cycle of Beethoven string quartets … and brin
 ging Beethoven’s music to non-traditional venues around … Boston\, inc
 luding homeless shelters and youth programs.”   As always\, the concert 
 will take place at the Congregational Church in Blue Hill beginning sharpl
 y at 3pm. \nOn February 4\, 2024\, at 4:00pm BHCA will present a unique mu
 sical performance by Min Xiao Fen and Rez Abassi which will include the sc
 reening of the classic 1934 silent film “The Goddess” accompanied by a
 n original score by Min Xiao Fen entitled “White Lotus.” \nMin Xiao Fe
 n has been described by NPR as “one of the world’s greatest virtuosos.
 ”  Min plays the pipa\, a four-stringed Chinese lute\, as well as a sanx
 ian (three stringed lute)\, ruan (another plucked Chinese instrument)\, an
 d guqin (a seven-stringed instrument). Min will be joined by Pakistani gui
 tarist\, Rez Abassi\, considered one of the foremost modern jazz guitar pl
 ayers. Please note that due to the inclusion of the film “The Goddess\,
 ” this program and this program only will start one hour later at 4pm.\n
 On February 18\, 2024\, the Lysander Piano Trio\, whose name is inspired b
 y the character in Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream\,” wil
 l perform for the first time on the Penisula. The trio of Itamar Zorman\, 
 violin\, Michael Katz\, cello\, and Liza Stepanova\, piano\, have been tog
 ether for over ten years.  The trio has been applauded by The Strad for it
 s “incredible ensemble\, passionate playing\, articulate and imaginative
  ideas and a wide palette …”  The Lysander Piano Trio has performed at
  venues throughout the United States\, including the Kennedy Center’s Te
 rrace Theater\, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall\, Los Angeles’ Da Ca
 mera Society\, San Francisco’s Music at Kohl Mansion\, and the Smithsoni
 an American Art Museum.  \nOn March 17\, 2024\, the twice GRAMMY nominated
  quintet Imani Winds will perform.  Imani Winds’ album “Passion for Ba
 ch and Coltrane” by Jeff Scott has recently been nominated for a GRAMMY 
 award.  Imani Winds\, whose members include flutist Brandon Patrick George
 \, oboist Toyin Spellman-Diaz\, French horn player Kevin Newton\, clarinet
 ist Mark Dover\, and bassoonist Monica Ellis\, has led a revolution and ev
 olution of the wind quintet through dynamic playing\, adventurous programm
 ing\, and outreach endeavors that have inspired audiences of all ages and 
 backgrounds.\nCelebrating over a quarter century of music making\, Imani W
 inds has performed in almost every major chamber music series\, performing
  arts center\, and summer festival in the U.S.  They regularly perform in 
 venues like Carnegie Hall\, Lincoln Center and Kennedy Center.  Imani Wind
 s also curates residencies that include performances\, workshops\, and mas
 terclasses for students at institutions such as University of Chicago\, Ea
 stman School of Music and Duke University.  \n
