DESCRIPTION:Maine poet and author Lindo Buckmaster will read from her new b
 ook\, Space Heart\, A Memoir in Stages at the Blue Hill Public Library on 
 Saturday\, Feb. 23\, at 2:00 pm.\n\nThe daughter of a rocket engineer\, Li
 nda weaves into her story the juxtaposition of cutting-edge technology and
  the natural world on the empty barrier island around Cape Canaveral and t
 he Kennedy Space Center in Florida that came to be called the Space Coast.
  That contrast is written on her own small body as surgeons worked in 1962
  to correct a congenital heart defect with materials developed for space f
 light.\n\nLinda Buckmaster has lived within a block of the Atlantic most o
 f her life\, growing up in “Space Coast” Florida during the 1950s and 
 1960s and being part of the back-to-the-land movement in Midcoast Maine in
  the 1970s. Former Poet Laureate of Belfast\, Maine\, her poetry\, essays\
 , and fiction have appeared in over thirty journals and anthologies. Her e
 ssay\, Fallout\, was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2017\, and one of h
 er pieces was listed as a Notable Essay in Best American Essays 2013.\n\nT
