 monthly afterschool film series for teens. April's film\, The Perks of Bei
 ng a Wallflower\, is a drama based on the young adult novel by Stephen Chb
 osky. A shy high school freshman named Charlie\, who is coping with the su
 icide of a friend\, is befriended by a pair of free-spirited seniors. Dire
 cted by the author himself\, this film is a sensitive exploration of menta
 l illness\, friendship\, and the triumph of the human spirit.\n\nMovies in
  the library’s Teen Film Series cover a wide range of subjects and style
 s\, and we encourage teens and their families to research them in advance
