Membership Benefits

The Blue Hill Peninsula Chamber of Commerce (BHPCC) promotes and supports the local economy, provides a voice for area businesses and offers additional opportunities and services to create a positive and prosperous business environment. We would welcome your participation.

 

SUPPORT

  • Members of BHPCC have access to a health insurance program through the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, Chamber BlueOptions. This program provides small businesses a suite of eight health plans including four PPOs, two HMOs and two Health Savings Account plans.
  • Through a partnership with the Maine State Chamber of Commerce our members can access dental insurance, discounted credit card processing, and electrical aggregation (in the CMP territory). These benefits require membership in the Maine State Chamber of Commerce as well as your local chamber. Additional benefits (which do not require state chamber membership) include a disability insurance program and workers' compensation trust group.
  • We love to talk business and our staff and directors have a wealth of experience on which to draw. As a chamber member you may receive confidential businesses counseling upon request. We also maintain an extensive list of business experts and resources and are happy to make a referral to meet your needs.

 

PROMOTE

  • Receive a listing in our comprehensive Live. Work. Play. Area Guide with a distribution of at least 10,000 copies annually. This guide is also accessible as a PDF download on our website. Display advertising in this publication is available.
  • Membership includes a listing on the chamber's extensive website, www.bluehillpeninsula.org. Your listing includes direct links to your email and website.
  • Member access to posting news, events, announcements and job listings in our weekly electronic newsletter, Chamber News Flash is also included. Reasonably priced sponsorship of this publication is also available.
  • Receive exclusive discounts on cooperative advertising in publications such as Down East Magazine, Maine Invites You, and Maine. magazine.
  • The Chamber receives hundres of requests for referrals each year. It is our policy to only recommend member businesses.
  • Our membership mailing list is available as an Excel file to members only.
  • The chamber's montly Business After Hours event gives members an opportunity to socialize in a casual setting. Hosted at a different business each month, this is a chance for members to oget to know each other and for prospective members to gain an understanding of our organization.
  • We encourage members to participate on one of our committees. In this way, our members help to strengthen the chamber while forming our future and the economy of our region. Current committees include Ambassadors, Marketing, Economic Development, Programming, Events (including the Foliage Food & Wine Festival), and Public Policy.

 

ADVOCATE

  • BHPCC represents its membership on issues of importance to the business community at the state and local levels. Our staff and board of directors are actively engaged in a variety of relevant issues.
  • Chamber staff and directors attend political events and meetings of local and state government to gather information and advocate on behalf of our members. When appropriate, we are prepared to represent the business interests of our area through lobbying efforts and testimony at public hearings of the Maine State Legislature and local Selectboards.
  • During the legislative session "Legislative Updates" are a regular feature in the Chamber News Flash. These updates are carefully selected to keep our members informed on issues of importance to Maine's business climate.

 

Health Insurance

The Maine State Chamber Purchasing Alliance, Inc. provides small businesses with 2-50 employees, as well as self-employed people, who are members of a local or regional chamber of commerce, a suite of eight health plans called Chamber BlueOptions. Included are four PPO (preferred provider organization) and two HMO plans each with diffent deductibles and coinsurance levels, and two Health Savings Account plans. The following programs require membership in the Maine State Chamber of Commerce as well as your local Chamber.

Dental Coverage

This high-quality, competitively priced, dual-option dental insurance program offers two coverage options: "Basic Single" for $21.20 per month or "Premier Single" for $30.30 per month. Credit Card Processing

First National Merchant Solutions is the Visa and MasterCard processing provider for the Alliance of Maine Chambers. They provide an efficient, cost-effective way for members to process credit card transactions. Members are given discount rates as low as 1.52 percent plus 20 cents per transaction. Electrical Aggregation

Tremendous savings have been realized with the electrical aggregation program for customers in the CMP territory. Since the latest standard rate offer was announced, additional savings options are being reevaluated, designed to offer a competitive energy supply at group price cost savings.
